Abstracts

The 7th annual conference of the Asia-Pacific Early Christian Studies Society was held at the
Presbyterian College and Theological Seminary in Seoul, South Korea. The theme was “Preaching and Ministry in Early Christianity.” There were three keynote speakers: Prof. Seyoon Kim from Fuller Theological Seminary, who presented a paper entitled “The Apostle Paul as Preacher and Pastor,” Prof. Pauline Allen from Australian Catholic University, who presented a paper entitled “Aspects of Preaching and Ministry in East and West AD 400 600,” and Prof. Dr. Hanns Christof Brennecke from Friedrich-Alexander Universität, Erlangen, who presented a paper entitled “Predigt und Bischofsamt im konstantinischen Zeitalter. Das Beispiel des Meletius von Antiochien.”

As well, twenty-seven other scholars from South Korea, Japan, Australia, United States of America, South Africa, and Germany presented papers in 10 sessions. The cultural experience was at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul where we saw artifacts from Korea’s past. A fantastic conference dinner was held at Samcheonggak. Our cultural excursion was to National Museum of Korea, where we saw a fascinating glimpse into Korea's heritage. The society is grateful to WonmoSuh and Eun Hye Lee and all the team in Seoul who made this such a successful event.
